Originating from highlands of the Caucasus, this well-known delicious cheese Chechil is a perfect accompaniment to beer and wine.
Chechil is made by heating up the cheese curd to very high temperature, which allows it to be pulled into thin strings. Strings brined and smoked, and hand braided after.
Traditionally in Eastern Europe and Central Asia it is served with beer, complimenting a lot towards Pilsner and wheat beer Weissbier. Chechil cheese is made from fresh milk, which comes from our beautiful grass fed Jersey cows that we raise on green pastures outside of Bloemfontein. Always fresh, partially skimmed milk, this is what we use to make Chechil cheese.
